Theatre passe muraille tonight
T.O. peeps: join us friday, Feb 28 @ theatre passe murielle with iskwe, people tanning and dj blackcube playlist.
hey t.o. people,
we’ve been quiet for a few months now retooling the live show, but we’re emerging from our fallow state in bloom with new songs, new arrangements, new visuals, new gear, and a new pretty strut. that being said, we’re just as spurned, sweaty, and misanthropic as ever (not to worry).
we’re excited to be playing at the iconic theatre passe muraille with our banffcamp besty iskwe, and the erstwhile lord and light of our brand think tank, jonathan carrol (people tanning, tough guy mountain). there will also be dj sets from swede-o-phile blackcube playlist.
shit’s hot in the polar vortex…
Silent Shout naming the scene.
— Communization and the Abolition of Gender (via some-velvet-morning)
Here’s a remix we did of Petra Glynt’s WAR CRY. Was first grabbed by the lyrics of this track, which, for me, walk that golden mean between melancholy and elation (part of this work is accomplished by the power and beauty of Alex’s voice):
Since I left the womb I’ve been carving my way
Some carve their own tomb before its over
Some chose to watch the clock wishing they weren’t sober
Blame the system cuz some chase freedom to the grave
Trying new flavours of belief or ways to feel sane
but we’re still enslaved
Does your blood run dry?
This is a war cry
Its whether you know your alive and what you’re made of
Do the rivers run dry? Does the Mother cry?
Its whether you know she’s alive and what you’re made of

Petra Glynt- Sour Paradise
a little love for kltr kma and sweatshop.
Kltr Kma is a song about the relativizing power of the screen, and the political somnolence Internet culture can make us susceptible to. This passivity is not only about the position of the viewer as consumer, or the questionable efficacy of social media as a political platform (a range of modern revolutions put summarily aside). It’s also about how the Internet is so damned good— its everything-all-the-timeness— that makes it such a perfect seduction.
The video is comprised largely of found Tumblr art and YouTube clips and cross cuts aestheticized sex and violence, GIFs, sea punk, and other memes with images of IRL shittiness that is often lost in the wash of entertainment, personality, and etiolated symbolism.
